Bio

Hello and welcome to my class!  I am looking forward to us getting to know each other over the course of the year.  I have a lot of exciting things planned for our class and I can't wait to get started!  Before we get to far, I want to tell you a little bit about myself.  This will be my first year at Smiths Station High School and I could not be more thrilled to be returning to the school where I graduated from many years ago.  I have lived in Smiths Station most of my life and there is no place else I would rather call home.

Teaching is actually my second career.  After graduating from Auburn University with a degree in public relations, I worked at TSYS for about 8 years.  It was there that I met and married the love of my life, Ben. Not long after that  my son was born and I made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom for awhile and focus just on family.  A couple of years later baby boy #2 came along.  I loved being at home with my boys, but I knew I would eventually go back to work.  Literature was always one of my favorite subjects in school,  so I decided to follow in the footsteps of many great teachers who inspired me along the way and pursue my master's degree in English Language Arts.  I received my Master of Arts in Teaching from Columbus State University in 2014.  I taught 9th grade English at Central Freshman Academy for two years before making the jump to Smiths Station High School.  I'm so glad I'm here and I'm glad you are here, too!
