Do you want to be exempt from Finals?

EXEMPTION POLICY

During the two days of end of term exams, students will be required to meet during exam times only (Checking out will not be necessary.).  A tutorial study hall will be held in the auditorium for those students remaining on campus after exams are over each day.  End of term exams are given at the end of each term and count 1/5 or 20%of the final grade. All students in 9th Grade are required to take both end of term exams (Fall and Spring).

Teachers may exempt 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students if he/she meets ALL of the following criteria:

"A" average with no more than 2 absences and no disciplinary entries for tardies

"B" average with no more than 1 absence and no disciplinary entries for tardies

"C" average with Zero absences and no disciplinary entries for tardies

Students will automatically forfeit exemptions for any exam if he/she is placed in ISS or Suspended for any reason.

A student may be considered for exemption if he/she misses more than the maximum number of days under the exemption policy if approved by the principal. Each situation will be judged on a case by case basis using the following:

Absences are coded as follows:

•  Hospitalization

•  Death in the immediate family

•  Inclement weather/Natural disaster that would be dangerous to the life and health of the child

•  Legal quarantine

•  Catastrophic event

End of term exam re-tests will be given to any student if the exam grade determines passing or failing in regard to graduation.  Only one re-test will be given.  The re-test will be given over the same material, but may take a different form.  Failure to meet any end of term exam for any reason is strongly discouraged.  Emergency excused absences from an exam will necessitate a different exam being given of equal difficulty for the student to receive a final grade.  A grade of "0" will be given for unexcused absences from term exams.  This includes any unexcused absence due to a suspension.
