I am a 1984 graduate of Smiths Station High School and a 1989 graduate of Auburn University. After completing my degree at Auburn, I received a job opportunity to return to Smiths Station to teach and coach. For the past 24 years I have served in some capacity within the Smiths Station School System. I began teaching and coaching at the high school and later moved to the elementary school and I served as an assistant principal at the high school from 2005-2014. I was named Principal of Smiths Station High School in June of 2014.
I am married to Carol Richards, she is the assistant principal at Wacoochee Elementary, and have two children, Catherine and Eli. Catherine is 14 years old and is in the 9th grade at Smiths Station Freshman Center. Eli is 12 years old and is in the 7th grade at Smiths Station Jr. High School.
I am an avid outdoorsmen, I enjoy most outdoor activities, duck and turkey hunting, offshore fishing, gardening and working around the house. I also enjoy watching my children participate in athletics, soccer, basketball, and baseball.
I have been a member of the Smiths Station Community my entire life and I plan on continuing to raise my children here.
I can not think of a better place to live, work and raise my family.
